Innovative, transparent architecture
The steelglass bridge

The sensation at the “glasstec 2006” in Düsseldorf: the steelglass bridge – an extraordinary and innovative construction. Transparency and stability are united here in an impressive piece of architecture.

The bridge was developed on the basis of an idea by designer, Ralph Matthis. It was realised by Berlin-based plate glass manufacturing company Bartelt & Sohn in close cooperation with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Maier from the Technische Universität Hamburg-Harburg.

Structural planning was in the hands of M+W Ingenieurbüro für Konstruktiven Glasbau. All glass and metal elements at Bartelt & Sohn are manufactured and assembled from their own LSG production und metal construction workshop.

The central and eponymous component of the exhibition stand is a glass bridge with a span of 6.6 m, connecting the two podiums with one another. The bridge can be accessed either via a flight of full glass stairs or by means of a steelglass staircase.
